What we do
We provide continuous visibility across the technology environments our clients run on — infrastructure health, application availability, and security events — and we act on what the data tells us.
Most providers describe this work as “monitoring.” We do it as a service-led discipline rather than a metric-led one. The distinction matters. A server reporting high CPU is a metric. “The payroll run is degraded” is a service signal. The first is data. The second is information a business leader can act on. We design monitoring around the services the business actually cares about, with metrics as inputs to service-level signals, not as ends in themselves.
When organisations need this
Most clients come to monitoring work for one of a few reasons:
They have an environment they cannot see clearly. Things go wrong, and they find out from users rather than from any system. They have heard “something is slow” or “I cannot log in” too many times to dismiss. There is a visibility gap with costs incurred.
They have monitoring tools but the tools are noisy or silent at the wrong times. Alerts that mean nothing, alerts that nobody investigates, dashboards with green lights that turn out to mean only that nothing is being checked. The investment is there; the discipline is not.
They have a regulatory, contractual, or insurer requirement to demonstrate continuous visibility such as log retention, security event correlation, vulnerability tracking, evidence of incident response capability. They need the discipline to be defensible, not just present.
They have decided that running their own monitoring is no longer the right use of internal capacity. The skills are scarce, the tooling is constantly evolving, and the on-call burden is taking attention away from work that has higher leverage.

How we approach the work
Monitoring runs continuously, but the underlying disciplines are deliberate.
Service-led, not metric-led. Most monitoring tells you that something is broken. We tell you what it means. The headline signal is the service the business cares about — payroll, finance, the ERP, customer-facing applications, email. The underlying metrics from servers, network devices, applications, and security tools feed into those service-level signals. The result is alerting that reaches a business leader as “customer portal is degraded” rather than as a stream of metric breaches that have to be interpreted.
This is harder to set up than threshold-based monitoring. It requires understanding the client’s services, modelling their dependencies, designing the signal logic, and tuning the alerting. It is also more useful in operation — fewer false alarms, fewer middle-of-the-night pages for non-issues, more credibility when an alert actually fires.
Health and security signals are watched together. Operational health and security posture are not separable. A server with a vulnerability is both a security concern and an operational risk. An unusual login pattern is both a security signal and a usability question. A misconfigured firewall affects both posture and connectivity. We watch both layers in one practice rather than maintaining two parallel disciplines that miss the things between them.
Alerts are tuned, not shipped. Out-of-the-box monitoring tools come with default alerting that is rarely right for any specific environment. We tune the alerting to the client’s environment — what is normal, what is genuinely worth waking someone for, what should escalate and how. The work of tuning is continuous; an alerting profile that was right last quarter is rarely still right next quarter without adjustment.
Detection feeds response, not just dashboards. Detection without response is observability theatre. We define the response posture alongside the detection — who gets alerted, how the triage works, what escalation looks like, when the response moves from monitoring into operations or into incident handling. The discipline is the response, not the dashboard.
Reporting where it serves a purpose. We produce reports when they serve a real purpose — when an ISMS, regulator, insurer, or contract requires evidence, or when the client genuinely uses the report to make decisions. We do not produce monthly green-light dashboards as a substitute for the work itself. Where reporting is part of the engagement, it is shaped to the actual need: what the report is for, who reads it, what decisions it supports.
What we cover
We organise monitoring around what is being watched, integrated into one practice rather than separated into parallel disciplines.
Infrastructure health. Servers, network devices, virtualisation hosts, applications, databases, storage, connectivity. The things that have to keep working for the business to operate. Designed around service-level signals rather than raw metrics, so the alerting reaches operators as statements about services rather than streams of component data.
Security events. Log collection and correlation, security event detection, vulnerability and CVE tracking, file integrity monitoring, compliance benchmark reporting. The visibility layer that surfaces what is happening from a security posture perspective — and the evidence trail that supports an ISMS, an audit, or a regulatory request.
Endpoint visibility. Where the operational engagement extends to endpoints, we incorporate endpoint signal — anti-malware events, software inventory, configuration drift, basic behavioural patterns — into the monitoring practice. For clients whose threat profile genuinely requires more — full EDR, threat hunting, dedicated analyst capability — see the section on the SOC question below.
Service-level visibility. Modelled service signals derived from underlying infrastructure, application, and security data. Designed with the client to match the services they actually run their business on.
The SOC question
We are not a security operations centre. That is intentional.
A full SOC means staffed analyst tiers, twenty-four-hour response, threat hunting capability, and incident management capacity at a scale most SME and mid-market organisations do not need and cannot defend the cost of. Most clients who think they need a SOC actually need credible monitoring with a clear escalation path — not a building full of analysts running on three shifts.
What we do is the visibility, the disciplines, and the response posture that earns the trust of an ISMS, an auditor, or an insurer. For clients whose threat profile genuinely warrants more, we do one of two things:
We integrate with a SOC that the client has selected or is mandated to use — feeding our monitoring data into their analyst capacity, and operating as the practice that knows the client’s environment alongside their SOC’s specialist coverage.
We arrange a SOC capability through a trusted partner — typically the managed detection and response service from a recognised endpoint security vendor — where we maintain visibility into what they detect and the operational responsibility for the environment they are watching.
In both cases, the SOC is the specialist. We are the practice that runs the environment around it. The two work together; the boundary is clear; the client gets both without paying for capability they do not need.
A note on offensive testing
WR360 is a defensive security practice. We monitor, detect, harden, and respond. We do not perform penetration testing, red team exercises, or other offensive security services. Where monitoring work surfaces the need for offensive testing, vulnerability assessment at audit grade, or red team work, we arrange it through trusted independent partners.
This is a deliberate position. Offensive testing is most useful when it is done by an independent party — not by the team that designed and operates the controls being tested. The result is more defensible than a single provider doing both, and aligns with what regulators, insurers, and assurance frameworks like ISO 27001 expect.

A documented monitoring design — what is being watched, what signals are being generated, how the alerting routes, what response is expected at what severity. Without the design, monitoring is just data collection.
Service-level signals tuned to the client’s environment — payroll, finance, customer-facing systems, the services that genuinely matter. Alerts that reach the right people, at the right time, with enough context to act.
A working set of detection and response disciplines, integrated with the rest of the practice — operational issues escalating into operations, security events escalating into incident response, audit-relevant events captured for the ISMS evidence trail.
The visibility silently doing its job. Most of what monitoring produces is the absence of bad surprises. The deliverable is partly that the alerts you do receive are worth reading, and the alerts you do not receive are not telling you something you should have known.
For clients on a managed monitoring engagement, this is the ongoing deliverable — month after month, year after year. Monitoring is not a project that finishes.
Who this is for
Organisations that need continuous visibility across infrastructure and security events, without maintaining the in-house capacity that running it themselves would require. We see this most often in finance, manufacturing, and legal — sectors where data has compliance and operational consequence and where extended outages or undetected security events have direct cost.
It works for organisations that have outgrown an internal-only model — where the existing team is too stretched to maintain the monitoring discipline, or where specialised depth is missing.
It works for organisations with regulatory or contractual visibility obligations — POPIA, FSCA Joint Standards, customer audits, insurer requirements — where the discipline has to be defensible.
It works for organisations that have lived through a visibility gap — an outage they should have seen coming, a security event detected too late, an audit finding around log retention or event monitoring — and have decided the next time has to be different.
It works less well for organisations that want a noisy dashboard for executive presentations rather than a working monitoring discipline. The difference shows up quickly in conversation.
How we work with you
Monitoring engagements typically run as ongoing managed-services relationships, structured around an agreed scope of what is being watched, an agreed response posture, and an agreed reporting arrangement. The commercial shape varies — see Engagement Models for detail.
A typical pattern is a defined-scope project to design and deploy the monitoring (or to remediate a monitoring arrangement that needs work), followed by an ongoing managed-services relationship to operate it. The implementation is finite. The operation is not.
For clients with specific data sovereignty, regulatory, or isolation requirements, we offer a private deployment option — the monitoring stack runs inside the client’s environment rather than in ours. This matters most for TISAX-aligned clients, regulated environments, and clients with explicit data residency obligations.
We work alongside internal teams where they exist. Where the client has internal IT, security, or operations capacity, we operate the monitoring discipline alongside them rather than over them. The signal flows we generate are designed to be useful to the client’s own people, not just to our service desk.
What it looks like in practice
We apply the same monitoring disciplines to ourselves. WR360’s own infrastructure — service desk, documentation, communications, automation — is monitored on the same disciplines we deploy with clients. The service-level signals we generate for our own environment are designed the same way. We have lived through the alerts we recommend tuning, the false positives we recommend suppressing, and the silent failures we have learned to watch for. The recommendations are shaped by lived experience, not by reading.
This is also what makes the service-monitoring discipline credible. Configuring monitoring tools to produce service-level signals is genuinely harder than threshold-based alerting. We have done the work — on our own environment first — to know what produces useful signal and what produces noise. The clients who benefit from the discipline are the clients we have already learned how to monitor properly.
A few honest things to know
Monitoring is one of the practice areas where the value is most often invisible. The deliverable is partly silence — the alerts you do not receive because the discipline caught and resolved the issue before anyone noticed. This makes monitoring hard to demonstrate value on, especially in the early months of an engagement when very little appears to be happening visibly. We are explicit about this in early conversations. The right monitoring practice is the one that is quietly doing its job, not the one generating the most activity.
The other side of this is that prospective clients sometimes assume they have visibility when what they actually have is dashboards nobody reads. The dashboard exists. The alerts route somewhere. Whether the dashboard is showing useful information, whether the alerts are actually investigated, whether the visibility is producing decisions — these are different questions. Monitoring engagements often start with an honest review of the existing arrangement, and the review sometimes finds that the existing arrangement is theatre.
We will sometimes recommend reducing the scope of monitoring rather than expanding it. More signals, more alerts, more dashboards is rarely the answer. Better-designed signals, fewer alerts that mean more, dashboards that produce decisions — this is usually the answer. Part of the work is deciding what genuinely needs to be watched at the service level and what does not.
We will not produce monthly traffic-light reports as a substitute for the work itself. Reporting that exists for the sake of reporting is performative; we leave that to other providers.
What this connects to
Monitoring does not stand alone. It is one face of the practice.
The Information Security Management System practice is what monitoring evidences. The ISMS sets the controls and the requirements; monitoring produces the visibility, the event trails, and the assurance that the controls are operating.
Advisory and Architecture is where monitoring decisions are shaped before they are committed to. What is watched, at what level, with what response — these are advisory questions before they are operational ones.
Technology Operations is where the operational response to monitoring happens. Detected operational issues route to the operations practice; the two are coordinated rather than separated. Endpoint management tooling — anti-malware, endpoint protection, asset management — sits inside operations and feeds signal into monitoring.
Continuity and Recovery is partly informed by monitoring. Backup failures, replication lag, integrity errors are surfaced through monitoring and worked through the continuity discipline.
Procurement is where the licensing and tooling that supports monitoring comes into the practice — including the ESET endpoint security stack, where managed detection and response upgrade paths are available for clients whose threat profile warrants them.
